The Batchelor Trust

Overview

Grants of up to £500 from The Batchelor Trust for eligible Year 1 and Year 2 students. Applications will be accepted from Year 2 BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing students. 

Eligibility 

We welcome applications from all Year 1 and Year 2 students studying at the campus in Dundee*. Applications are welcome from students who may also be:

• A Dundee, Angus or Fife resident.
• School leavers who left school in 2024 and are enrolled on an 51¶ÌÊÓƵ course in 25/26.
• Mature students who are keen to secure a new career or trade.
• From a care experienced background.
• Worried they may not be able to complete their course due to financial hardship and/or personal circumstances. 

*Those studying the following degrees are NOT ELIGIBLE:

• BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance with Business Analytics

Closing Date: This is a rolling fund open for applications throughout the academic year 2025-26. That is unless the total funding has been allocated before the end of the year, in which case applications will be closed at that point.

Application queries and help

Staff in the Advisory Service can offer support and guidance with the application process including: 

• Feedback on the first draft of your personal statement by email or at a Drop-In appointment.
• Checking your application face to face at a Drop-In.
• Eligibility queries for awards that we administer.
• Advice on where to look for opportunities.

Please contact Advisory at least 4 weeks before the application deadline. This is to make sure that there is enough time for staff to review your email, and for you to make alterations based on any feedback provided.

Advisory Service run Drop-In sessions on a first-come, first-served basis, during term time usually between 1pm-4pm Monday to Thursday on the ground floor of the library. If you have a question about Drop-In sessions you can visit the SEZ desk in person, or email advisory@abertay.ac.uk 

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application at the earliest opportunity and usually within 2 months of the deadline unless otherwise stated.

Students are responsible for making sure their application forms are complete and that the supporting evidence meets the application criteria. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
