Content outside the scope of the regulations

  • Maps: 3D and floorplan maps are unlikely to be fully accessible, but maps are outside the scope of the regulations. Assistance is available in person if required.

  • Legacy PDFs and documents: Documents published before 23 September 2018 that are not essential to services are exempt. Essential documents are being remediated or replaced with accessible formats.

What we鈥檙e doing to improve accessibility

  • Redesigning page layouts and templates to remove systemic accessibility issues.

  • Using automated tools (Siteimprove, Axe, Lighthouse) and manual testing to review content regularly.

  • Training content creators on accessible content production.

  • Feeding back accessibility issues to third-party suppliers.

  • Participating in sector accessibility forums (GDS, JISC, UK HE).
